Special Needs
Most shelters need to turn their animals over quickly to allow for the new ones coming in. This makes it hard for them to take care of pets needing long term medical care.
Heart worm is an expensive, yet treatable, condition that many dogs are euthanized for. Also skin conditions ranging from fleas to allergies to mange - all time consuming to treat.

Tumors are scary for someone looking for a new pet. We have them removed & biopsied for the owners peace of mind. Malnourished and emaciated animals need a special diet to get them on their feet. And, of course, we have also mended a few broken bones.
